Reflection
If we’re being real, the cold hard truth is that some of us have never felt loved or experienced real love; and wouldn’t recognize it if it was served on a silver platter in neon lights.
Except we were made to be loved. To know love and affection when we share ourselves. Without it, there’s a lingering pain and emptiness that chips away at our soul and seems to never fade. The void warps our perceptions and keeps us from seeing the truth about people and relationships, as we struggle to find the love we yearn. Often from unhealthy or manipulative sources, and sometimes, to the detriment of giving away our soul.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting companionship. We are social beings and made for company. But invest the time to know yourself and fill yourself before you share yourself with someone else. Or the relationship won’t work.
When you’re tired of feeling angry or empty and ready for change, Jesus is the antidote. His teachings will fill the emptiness, sharpen your discernment, and heal the pain. Let’s pray.
Prayer
– Dear God. Thank you for this insightful word. Help me to be patient, to know myself deeply, and see the blind spots that add to my pain. Amen.
